The economic imbalance caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the world was beyond definition. It brought the entire logistics sector to a standstill in India, barring the movements of essential goods. Initially the Government was circumspect to loosen its grip on the entire scenario. However, moderate relaxation for the revival of the economy was essential.
Manufacturing of various goods had come to a halt, resulting in reduced demand for logistics. Rail and road transport facilitated smooth intra country movements, but with the stringent lockdown, delays had become unavoidable. International movement via air and ocean was suspended. Aviation industry was the worst hit of all. Multiple airlines ceased their operations, abandoning thousands of employees worldwide and accelerating unemployment. Warehouses, usually located at the outskirts of a city, were now facing a number of problems. Shortage of labour (as most of them worked on contractual basis), absence of technical staff and lack of proper, timely transportation facilities crippled the coherent structure of warehousing. Customs clearance has been influenced concomitantly by the disruption of the entire transportation network. This increased the cost burden on importers and exporters. Major infrastructural upgradations were vital for effective operation of the logistics sector.
As the Government gradually started lifting its rigid impositions, simultaneously, it formed indicative guidelines cautioning the people of the adverse effects they might face in case of leniency. Sanitization at every level of operation, be it in office premises or on the field, has become imperative. Masks, gloves and temperature checks form the prerequisites of every activity to be carried out. All possible safety measures need to be implemented to ensure the health of those working tirelessly to enable systematic operations of the highest grade.
Digitalization has taken the world by storm. With the advent of digital logistics, steps are being taken to operate with limited staff in office and promote work from home culture for the betterment and safety of employees. Tracking the cargos has eased the relations between the companies and clients. Digital warehouses have resorted to automation. Customs and clearance is crucial for timely delivery of goods. They too followed suit for swift operations and benefitted big time by reduction in cost.
We, at Aum Aura Express International Logistics (LLP), comply with the basic safety norms laid down by the government. Furthermore, we have implemented additional precautionary measures to deliver an elevated logistics experience for our clients. Fumigation and sanitization of every cargo, before and after loading them on the vessels, assures safety with quality delivery.
The efficient functioning of every sector has been made possible by the constant efforts put in by our frontline warriors. We would like to take a moment to thank them for their services in this time of crisis.
